Job summary

Gi Group UK is seeking an experienced EHS Manager on a 3-month contract at the Heysham site (LA3). The role leads the EHS management system, drives a strong safety culture and ensures compliance with HSE/EA requirements while supporting regulatory areas such as COMAH and Environmental Permitting.

You will work with site leadership to develop risk assessments, investigations, training, and performance metrics, contributing to continuous improvement and reporting across the site.

Qualifications

• Degree in OSH/Environmental/Risk or related field.
• NEBOSH Diploma or General Certificate.
• IOSH membership (Tech/Grad/Chartered) and IEMA membership (Associate/Full/Chartered).

Responsibilities

• Lead the site EHS management system and drive a strong safety culture.
• Ensure compliance with HSE/EA requirements and corporate standards.
• Own key regulatory areas: COMAH (Lower Tier), IPPC/Environmental Permitting, Waste Management permits, process safety.
• Support operational teams with risk assessments (COSHH, DSEAR, manual handling), audits and training.
• Review incidents/near misses, lead investigations using RCA, and drive corrective actions.
• Deliver clear communication across the workforce (toolbox talks, briefs, presentations).
• Manage EHS metrics/reporting and support EHS budget and improvement plans.
