Job summary

Civic Recruitment Limited is seeking a Driver/General Operative for Newport on a 3-month contract with the Local Authority. You will carry out street cleansing and environmental maintenance across Newport, driving council vehicles when required.

The role requires a full UK driving licence, the ability to work outdoors in all weather, and a proactive, customer-facing approach to keeping public spaces clean and safe. Shift pattern is 37 hours per week with some weekend work possible.

Qualifications

• Full UK Driving Licence required.
• Experience driving work vehicles.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Carry out daily street cleansing duties on defined routes.
• Drive Council vehicles safely in line with Driver Handbook.
• Undertake environmental cleansing and waste management tasks.
• Remove litter and maintain public spaces to agreed standards.
• Report accidents, defects, hazards and incidents.
• Provide excellent customer service when interacting with the public.
• Attend mandatory training when required.
• Work as part of a team to maintain Newport's environmental standards.
