Job summary

ReeVR Talent is seeking a Contract Mechanical Design Engineer for an established manufacturer in Royston. The role involves taking designs from concept through to manufacture on site, working with fabricators and CNC machinists to realise parts and assemblies.

The successful candidate will have strong SolidWorks capability, experience with fabricated equipment, weldments, and machining processes, and will produce accurate drawings to support manufacturing.

Qualifications

• SolidWorks experience and mechanical design background.
• Experience with fabricated equipment, weldments and/or machined components.
• Knowledge of fabrication and CNC manufacturing processes.
• Ability to produce accurate manufacturing drawings independently.

Responsibilities

• Produce 3D models, assemblies and detailed manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks.
• Design fabricated structures, support frames, gantries and weldments.
• Prepare general arrangement drawings for customer approval.
• Develop and modify precision machined components and mechanical assemblies.
• Reverse engineer existing parts and improve established designs.
• Support the shop floor with manufacturing queries and design changes.

Contract Mechanical Design Engineer – SolidWorks

Location: Royston, S Yorks

Rate: Negotiable, dependent on experience

Contract: Ongoing requirement – 6 months initial term

On site, five days per week ASAP start

ReeVR Talent is recruiting a Contract Mechanical Design Engineer for an established engineering manufacturer producing bespoke industrial equipment and precision machined components.

This is a varied role taking designs from initial concepts through to manufacture. Working closely with fabricators and CNC machinists, you’ll see your designs produced on site and help resolve practical engineering challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Produce 3D models, assemblies and detailed manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks.
• Design fabricated structures, support frames, gantries and weldments.

What we’re looking for

• Strong SolidWorks experience and a background in mechanical design.
• Experience with fabricated equipment, weldments and/or machined components.
• Practical knowledge of fabrication and CNC manufacturing processes.
• Ability to work independently and produce accurate manufacturing drawings.
• Experience in bespoke machinery, materials handling, automotive or motorsport engineering would be advantageous
