Job summary

Adecco is seeking a Contract Consultant to be based onsite at a busy Preston facility. You will manage day-to-day workforce planning for a pool of temporary associates and handle employee relations, attendance and payroll processes.

The role focuses on workforce deployment, operational support and data accuracy, with regular liaison with production managers and site leadership. This is an onsite, fast-paced position requiring strong prioritisation.

Qualifications

  • Experience in workforce management, HR administration, employee relations, operations support or a similar role.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills.
  • Confidence handling employee relations and absence conversations.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong administration and data management skills.
  • Good Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and Outlook.
  • Strong Excel skills, as the role relies heavily on multiple live Excel-based operational tracking tools.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily deployment of temporary associates across production departments.
  • Create and maintain workforce plans in line with production demand.
  • Work with client managers to understand labour requirements and respond to operational challenges.
  • Maintain accurate workforce data, planners and system records.
  • Act as the first point of contact for associate queries and support.
  • Conduct welfare, employee relations and absence management meetings.
  • Manage attendance, punctuality and performance matters.
  • Support engagement and retention.
  • Process weekly payroll and resolve pay queries.
  • Maintain attendance records and reporting.
  • Manage shared mailbox enquiries.
  • Ensure accurate workforce management data.
  • Produce reports and operational updates as required.

Contract Consultant - Preston

Are you someone who thrives in a fast-paced operational environment, enjoys solving workforce challenges and can think tactically to keep a large operation running smoothly?

We are seeking an onsite Contract Consultant to support a busy manufacturing and production facility in Preston. Working from our client's site, you will manage day-to-day workforce planning and people management for a pool of temporary associates across key production departments.

This is not a traditional recruitment role. The focus is workforce planning, employee relations, attendance management, workforce deployment and operational support, ensuring the site has the right people in the right place at the right time.

This is a highly visible, hands-on role requiring strong relationships with associates and operational managers, alongside the ability to make quick decisions in response to production demands.

Working hours: Monday to Friday onsite

  • 6:45am-4:15pm for 2 days
  • 6:45am-2:45pm for 2 days
  • 6:45am-2:15pm on Fridays
What You'll Be Doing
Workforce Planning & Operations
  • Manage daily deployment of temporary associates across production departments.
  • Create and maintain workforce plans in line with production demand.
  • Work with client managers to understand labour requirements and respond to operational challenges.
  • Maintain accurate workforce data, planners and system records.
Employee Relations & Associate Management
  • Act as the first point of contact for associate queries and support.
  • Conduct welfare, employee relations and absence management meetings.
  • Manage attendance, punctuality and performance matters.
  • Support engagement and retention.
  • Manage holiday requests while maintaining workforce coverage.
Payroll & Administration
  • Process weekly payroll and resolve pay queries.
  • Maintain attendance records and reporting.
  • Manage shared mailbox enquiries.
  • Ensure accurate workforce management data.
  • Produce reports and operational updates as required.

Essential Skills & Experience
