Job summary

The Building Engineering Services Association (BESA) Group is seeking a maternity cover for a six-month contract in its Legal & Commercial Department, located in the UK. The role offers hybrid working from Penrith or London, with potential extension beyond the initial period.

The successful candidate should have at least 1 year PQE, experience with standard and non-standard construction contracts, and strong knowledge of the UK construction industry.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1-year post-qualification experience.
• Experience advising on standard and non-standard construction contracts.
• Sound knowledge of the UK construction industry.
• Familiarity with the legislative framework affecting construction contracts.
• Understanding of commercial contracts.

Responsibilities

• Provide practical commercial and legal advice to BESA members to help them assess risks in contracting activities.
• Represent the needs and interests of BESA members to external stakeholders.
• Provide other departments with commercial guidance and assistance.
• Attend national and regional meetings and present on commercial, legal or contractual issues.
• Prepare agendas, minutes and supporting documents for BESA committees.
• Undertake project work of a legal or commercial nature for the BESA Group.
• Manage multiple tasks with competing priorities.
• Assist in responding to external consultations on matters affecting members.
