Job summary
BDO UK LLP seeks a Commercial Legal Counsel on a fixed-term basis for 15 months to provide maternity cover and manage wide-ranging client-facing commercial contracting. A key focus will be negotiating sophisticated master services agreements, including international elements and tech provisions.
The role requires senior-level legal judgment, risk-aware contract negotiations, and collaboration with Partners and senior managers across the firm.
Qualifications
- Qualified to practice law in England and Wales.
- Post-qualified experience in a regulated sector.
- Experience negotiating commercial contracts incl. MSAs, framework agreements, NDAs.
- Drafting client-facing tech contracts incl. SaaS, reseller & partnerships.
- Experience mentoring junior lawyers.
- Strong knowledge of EU/UK data protection laws in a global business.
- Experience creating/revising template contracts or playbooks.
- Ability to operate at a senior level with strategic business alignment.
Responsibilities
- Lead negotiations on complex MSAs with major clients, often with international elements.
- Provide pragmatic legal advice aligning with the firm's risk appetite.
- Support internal functions on strategically significant contracts and risk management in technology procurement.
