Job summary

MS Amlin seeks an Assistant Accountant on a 12-month fixed-term contract in London to support the Financial Accountant and Syndicate Finance Operations. You will maintain subledgers, reconcile balance sheet accounts, and prepare journals while ensuring accurate recording of underwriting transactions and cash flows.

You’ll work with Subscribe 2000 and Oracle, perform balance sheet substantiation, and assist in quarterly reporting.

Qualifications

• Essential ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent accounting qualification in progress
• Understanding of financial accounting and data interpretation
• Proven ability to work in a deadline-driven environment
• Strong organisational skills and time management
• Proficiency in MS Excel, ERP systems and accounting software
• Excellent communication and analytical skills
• Strong controls and reconciliations experience
• Desirable knowledge of Lloyd’s Market and Subscribe 2000
• Experience with Oracle general ledgers
• Experience with Subscribe 2000
• Interest in automation of finance processes to meet accelerated timetables

Responsibilities

• Maintain subledgers and ensure accurate postings and reconciliations during monthly/quarterly close cycles
• Reconcile underwriting figures between Subscribe 2000 and Oracle
• Prepare standard journals (IPT adjustments) and maintain subledgers
• Assist with balance sheet substantiation and analytical reviews
• Stay updated on IFRS/UK GAAP requirements and contribute to process improvements
• Support wider UK Operations during quarterly reporting and coordinate cross-department reporting
• Assist Settlement Working Group with cross-department reporting and log action/escalations
• Coordinate information to assess breaches of premium trust rules and bank accounts.
