Job summary

Search Consultancy LTD is seeking an Assistant Accountant to join our Leeds-based team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. The role offers exposure across a broad finance function, supporting day-to-day accounting activities and ensuring accurate financial reporting.

You will assist with month-end close, journal posting, balance sheet reconciliations and forecasting, while working closely with other teams to deliver high-quality financial insights.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar finance position.
• Good understanding of core accounting principles.
• Experience with month-end processes and reconciliations.
• Strong Excel skills and familiarity with finance systems.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
• Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to work.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts
• Post journals, accruals and prepayments
• Carry out balance sheet reconciliations
• Support month-end and year-end processes
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities
• Produce financial reports and analysis for stakeholders
• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable activities when required
• Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with internal procedures
• Investigate and resolve account discrepancies
• Support process improvements across the finance function
