Apex Recruitment is seeking a Continuous Improvement Engineer to drive operational excellence in a diversified manufacturing environment in Oldbury. You will work with Operations Leaders to implement lean principles, a 5S programme, and ongoing process improvements to reduce waste and improve safety and efficiency.

The role requires 3–5 years in a similar position, strong knowledge of process improvement methods, and the ability to deliver training and develop the workforce.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in continuous improvement or engineering.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
  • Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma accreditation is advantageous.
  • Ability to deliver operator training and develop the workforce.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and develop a 5S programme to reduce waste and maintain a safe, organised workplace.
  • Ensure risk assessments are established, maintained and reviewed across operations.
  • Support Health & Safety initiatives and promote a proactive safety culture.
  • Deliver operator training and contribute to development programmes with production and technical teams.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and lead process improvement projects.
  • Support production targets through problem solving and process optimisation.
  • Work cross-functionally with operations to drive sustainable improvements.
  • Apply lean methodologies and continuous improvement principles throughout the business.

Position: Continuous Improvement Engineer
Salary: £43,000 DOE

Role Summary

An opportunity has arisen for a Continuous Improvement Engineer to join a leading manufacturing organisation who specialise in working across a variety of sectors including automotive, defence, medical and consumer goods. You play a key role in driving operational excellence, implementing lean manufacturing principles, improving workplace organisation, and supporting employee development across the production environment.

Role & Responsibilities of the Continuous Improvement Engineer
  • Work alongside the Operations Manager and Team Leaders to implement and develop a 5S programme, reducing waste and maintaining a safe, organised and efficient workplace.
  • Ensure Risk Assessments are established, maintained and regularly reviewed across all operational processes.
  • Support Health & Safety initiatives and promote a proactive safety culture throughout the business.
  • Deliver operator training and contribute to employee development programmes in collaboration with production and technical teams.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and lead process improvement projects to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Support the achievement of production targets through effective problem-solving and process optimisation.
  • Work cross-functionally with operational teams to drive sustainable improvements and best practice.
  • Provide lean methodologies and continuous improvement principles throughout the business.
Requirements of the Continuous Improvement Engineer
  • 3 - 5 years' experience in a similar engineering or continuous improvement role.
  • Experience within a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Strong understanding of process improvement methodologies.
  • Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma accreditation would be advantageous.
  • Ability to deliver training and support workforce development initiatives.
  • Previous experience implementing 5S activities and driving operational improvements is desirable.
