Job Purpose
JOB DESCRIPTION AND PERSON SPECIFICATION
The job purpose of the Continuing Airworthiness Engineer is to oversee the technical aspects of the aircraft’s continued airworthiness, including assisting with maintenance planning, documentation control, AMP development and airworthiness reviews.
Responsibilities encompass a multifaceted realm of aircraft maintenance and regulatory compliance ensuring the airworthiness of aircraft throughout their operational lifecycle, adhering to stringent aviation regulations and safety standards.
This is a pivotal role in the company’s commitment to reliability, compliance, and the seamless operation of aircraft and therefore contributes significantly to the excellence of airworthiness management.
Key Responsibilities
The following list of responsibilities is not exhaustive (see ‘Other Duties’ below).
- Responsible for ensuring the airworthiness of an aircraft throughout its life cycle and managing the technical aspects of the aircraft’s continued airworthiness, assisting with maintenance planning and documentation control.
- Follow Continuing Airworthiness Engineering Supervisor instructions and work allocation with day to day functions
- Supporting the operator’s reliability programme – including data analysis and preparing for reliability meetings
- Ensure that the mass and balance statement reflects the current status of the aircraft.
- Assisting with maintenance program development for the aircraft.
- Collaborate with the planning team to develop maintenance schedules, plan maintenance activities, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
- Handle technical administrative tasks and maintain accurate and up-to-date records related to the aircraft’s maintenance and airworthiness. This includes creating and maintaining maintenance records, airworthiness certificates, and other required documentation. Including specifically the reporting to OEM’s.
- Maintaining and reporting of records relating to dent and buckle charts.
- Updating OASES systems with regards to the embodiment of modification and repairs.
- Assist with in depth assessment of Airworthiness Directive, Service Bulletins and planning the embodiment of Non-Mandatory Modification programmes
- Provide technical support to maintenance personnel and operators by providing guidance on technical issues and answering aircraft related technical issues. Work with aircraft manufacturers, suppliers, and authorities to address technical issues.
- Development of Engineering Instructions / Engineering Orders and Technical Bulletins including special projects
- Providing aircraft, component and engine status reports in order to perform / develop repair schemes.
- Liaise with sub-contracted providers regards to Engine Health Monitoring (EHM)
- Oversee and analysis of post flight reporting
- Supporting team`s supervisor with the review of Electrical Load Analysis (ELA’s)
- Providing technical support to projects as required by the operator
- The registration of ELT’s
- Supporting, where required, the development of complexed task cards for contracted P145 activities
- Providing aircraft, component, engine status for repairs
- Supporting of Cannibalisation ensuring fleet configuration control and compliance.
- CVR / FDR report reviews
- Support the operators Flight Operations department with the review of FDM data
- Tech author support – MEL
- Identify and assess potential safety concerns and provide solutions
- Ensure compliance with all aviation regulatory requirements and standards.
- Understanding of safety management system (SMS) for the aircraft. This includes identifying and managing safety risks, conducting audits, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Evaluate OEM released documentation including: OIT, AOT, FOT, SBIT, SL, RIL and ISI
- Manage and the co-ordination of the organisations Airworthiness Review programme, including initial recommendations and extensions
- Carry out Airworthiness Reviews (extensions) in accordance with the company’s programmes
- Co-ordination of Certificate of Airworthiness / Permit to Fly requirements to support the operation
- CAME updates, revisions and submissions to the regulator, with the supervision of the D-CAM and CAM
- Maintenance check flight support and engagement with Flight Operations.
- Authorisations of Permitted and outside OEM permitted variations to the maintenance programme
Other Duties
- As directed by the CAM and D-CAM and as considered necessary to meet the day-to-day, ongoing requirements of the business
- Deputise in the absence of the Airworthiness Engineer Supervisor.
- The Airworthiness Engineer must stay up-to-date with evolving aviation regulations and industry standards to ensure compliance and enhance safety protocols.
Criteria – Experience
- Experience within an UK CAA / EASA Part M, Part CAMO and Part 145 environment or equivalent.
- Technical career experience within aviation.
- Proficiency in Industry Standards, Best Practices and Aviation Regulations as required by EASA and UK CAA including Part CAMO, Part-145, Part–21, Part–M, CAP–562 and CAP–747.
- A sound knowledge of aircraft systems, structures and maintenance procedures.
- Technical writing skills.
- Proficient use of Microsoft 365: Word / Excel / Outlook / TEAMS
- Competent in using OASES system to fulfil their duties
- A understanding of Compliance Management.
- A understanding of Safety Management Systems to ensure the safety of aircraft and personnel.
