Description & Requirements

Bloomberg runs on data. Our products are fueled by powerful information. We combine data and context to paint the whole picture for our clients, around the clock – from around the world. In Data, we are responsible for delivering this data, news and analytics through innovative technology - quickly and accurately. We apply problem-solving skills to identify innovative workflow efficiencies, and we implement technology solutions to enhance our systems, products and processes.

The Team

The Content Acquisition team (CA) is an integral part of the Data department. We are responsible for partnering with the most critical content providers across the market data industry to acquire content that enables our customers to make fast and thoughtful investment decisions.

Within CA, our Content Relationship Managers lead the hunting, negotiation, and acquisition of Pricing, Reference, and Alternative data. We collaborate with the wider company to develop our data acquisition strategies, ensuring we are aligning with the agendas of our key partners.

The Role

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Pricing Content Relationship Management team based in the London office. You will be responsible for managing the Strategy and Relationships with our data content partners across Europe to acquire and manage Commodities & Energy pricing, expand coverage and improve quality of our data, through building strong partnerships with key stakeholders across different functions - including Senior/Heads of departments spanning across Trading, Sales, Business Managers, E-commerce, Desk Support, and In-house Market Data Specialists.

You will also work closely with Bloomberg internal stakeholders to ensure that the pricing is fast, reliable, and accessible across the platform; and collaborate on go-to-market strategies, while always seeking new opportunities to enrich our data content.

We'll Trust You To

  • Build strong collaborative relationships with content partners in your assigned coverage
  • Prospect proactively, while also maintaining existing relationships with key data contributors to identify and onboard strategic datasets and uncover growth opportunities like improving market transparency for our content partners
  • Become a true subject matter expert in commodities pricing by demonstrating your understanding of the datasets and market conditions, and by acting as a trusted adviser to your network internally and externally
  • Protect the quality of our product by proactively reviewing the depth, timeliness and accuracy of datasets provided by our content partners
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify gaps and opportunities within our coverage, and identify opportunities to design and develop more robust data acquisition strategies
  • Secure commitment or negotiate favorable terms (usage rights, costs) and new commercial models for contributed data. This includes ensuring content is fit for purpose, meets our data stakeholders’ needs, is in line with technical architecture and historical precedent
  • Manage and streamline our commercial partnership models, including renegotiating terms with existing content partners

You'll Need To Have

  • Minimum 5 years of recent Sales and Relationship Management experience in the financial services industry, including exchanges, market data providers or financial institutions
  • Demonstrated experience in Commodities and Energy products including any of the following: Power / Oil & Gas, Metals, Agriculture, Carbon & Renewables
  • Demonstrated experience managing business development activities across market makers and market associations (such as bankers association, brokers association or other related associations in the field)
  • Demonstrated experience building trust and influencing C level executives in order to develop long lasting business relationships and design effective product solutions, including but not limited to the improvement of data quality
  • Comfort with a high degree of autonomy along with proactively driving strategies and handling priorities from multiple internal and external partners
  • Be a strong communicator in representing Europe's book of business vis a vis your global counterparts, while being able to collaborate globally on shared goals
  • Demonstrated ability to build and execute plans under tight deadlines through partnership with other internal stakeholders
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
  • Willingness to travel within the region

We'd Love To See

  • An established network within European content partners including relationships with regulators, government agencies and major commodities/energy market makers would be an advantage
  • Demonstrated knowledge of market drivers and regulations for commodities/energy globally
  • Experience and asset class knowledge in alternative assets would be a plus
