Job description

Who we are:

1Breadcrumb is a construction technology SaaS company, headquartered in Melbourne with offices in London and San Francisco.

Our mission is to build safer, more efficient construction sites by replacing paper processes with a digital tool that reduces risk and improves compliance.

Over the past four years, 1Breadcrumb has grown from a start-up of 15 people to a global team of 60. We service more than 900 construction companies and 1.5million workers across ANZ, UKI, and North America.

We know that most marketers don’t dream of working for a construction tech company, but they do dream of working for a business that is seeing high scaling year-on-year growth with a marketing budget to match, and a team culture based on trust.

Our brand expression makes us different. We don’t want to appear like every other tech product in the construction industry. Humour is a massive part of how we show up in the market and that means there’s plenty of room for experimentation and creativity in this role.

For a flavour of our brand voice, watch our explainer video here and our US brand video here. A UKI brand video is in the works as we speak…

Why we’re hiring a Content Manager:

1Breadcrumb is growing quickly in two new regions - UKI + North America. To support this global expansion, we’re building out an effective and creative marketing team that’s ready to support our global ambition.

This newly created role presents an opportunity for someone to make it their own, build out a content strategy, come up with new and creative ways to engage our audience, all while being supported by a team who cares about the impact marketing has on the business and will provide the resources to make it happen.

What you will be responsible for:
Your first couple of months will look like:
  • Getting to know the product and audience: heading along for site visits, sitting on training calls, and talking with our clients to understand what matters most to them.
  • Understanding the brand: Read our strategy docs, content plan, and join content brainstorms to build out a library of new ideas.
  • Getting stuck in: Join the team in executing existing marketing activities - provide support in promoting our events, collaborating with clients, and a couple of other top secret but very exciting opportunities we will share with you.
Once your feet are under the desk, here’s what your responsibilities will focus on:
  • Leading the creation of our content strategy and calendar for the UKI (and beyond).
  • Creating regular video-led content for LinkedIn (the fun, creative kind, not the boring talking head kind) - this is a huge opportunity for us that we’re ready to take advantage of.
  • Building out a list of co-marketing ops with our clients and creating a repeatable process for the future (we already have a bunch of ops that are just waiting to be brought to life).
  • Creating 6-8 high-value case studies with our UKI clients each year.
  • Empowering our leadership team to post on LinkedIn by building out a plan and meeting with them individually to co-create content (in a form that excites them and fits with our strategy).
  • Collaborating with our product team to engage our customers better through email marketing and social content.
  • Assisting the wider marketing team with design work, from social tiles to event backdrops and sales materials (we promise this will not make up the majority of your job).
  • Conducting regular content reviews to assess what’s working and what isn’t - then taking these insights into future content-creation and planning.
What you’ll need to be successful:

We want you to love what you do and feel fulfilled in this role, so here’s what we believe is required to succeed:

  • 3-5+ years experience in marketing (preferably at least a year in product marketing for tech or SaaS).
  • Confidence with video creation and a willingness to get in front of the camera.
  • Editing skills in Capcut or a similar software.
  • Ideas machine - you know you’ll be able to think creatively about how to engage the construction industry.
  • A good eye for design - this role isn’t all about video, you’ll be required to use our brand guidelines to design up other content as well.
  • The ability to confidently pitch ideas and execute them - spotting good content opportunities and proactively suggesting these to our team and our clients.
  • Strategic mindset - before you post anything you’re asking: why this? What value does it offer? How do I want my audience to engage?
Why join us:

Our UKI presence is growing quickly - in six months our software has gone from being used on 600 construction sites to over 2,400. You’ll be joining a young and eager team that has cultivated a kind and supportive work culture and a wider company with a clear vision and track record of growth.

The annual salary on offer is £35-40k (flexible depending on experience and skillset).

FAQ:
Who's in my team?

We’re a global company with our HQ in Melbourne and a team of 12 on the ground here in London. You will be the fourth member of our global (and growing) marketing team. We meet weekly as a team online and given our HQ is in Melbourne, expect some early morning meetings on occasion.

Who is my manager?
  • Our UK/I Marketing Director, Esther Dawson (feel free to stalk her here) will be your direct manager and collaborator in London. She’s been with the company since August 2024 and has prior experience heading up the marketing of a video production agency. She loves creative thinking and believes content creation and management is one of the most important roles in a marketing team.
  • The department reports to an AU-based Commercial Director who is extremely supportive and empowering.
Benefits of working at 1Breadcrumb:
  • High-trust, flexible working but most days (except Friday) members of the team will be in our vibrant Work.Life Soho office. Expect pizza and beers every Thursday, pastries every Monday, and something fun happening most Wednesdays.
  • A yearly salary review.
  • Annual company-wide bonus to celebrate hitting our targets.
  • ESOP options so our team can get a slice of 1Breadcrumb’s success.
  • Annual wellness bonus (£250) and professional training budget to spend on your growth.
  • Ability to work remotely for one month of the year anywhere in Europe.
What’s the hiring process like?

We will only be considering applicants who submit a personal cover letter that is written in their voice. This is a marketing role, so how you tell your own story matters.

We also ask that you submit a portfolio of content you’ve created (please include video), but we will not require you to create new content during the application process.

The first round will include a phone interview followed by a video interview and finally an in-person interview with the Marketing Director and UK Head of Region. We understand you have other responsibilities while job hunting so will do our best to work around your availability.

We move quickly, so if we’re keen, you won’t have to wait long!

If you think you have what it takes but don’t have the exact experience we’ve laid out above, please still get in contact and apply. We’d love to speak with you!
