Job description

Layrd is growing its marketing team, and we’re looking for a creative and ambitious Content Assistant to work alongside our existing Marketing team. This is a hands-on, content-first role focused primarily on social media, content creation, storytelling and building the visibility of our businesses.

The role will support three companies within our group. Each business has its own audience, personality and commercial goals, giving you the opportunity to work across three distinct brands while helping us build a consistent, high-quality marketing output across the group.

You’ll work closely with our Marketing Executive, our Leadership Team, Designers and wider commercial team to capture what is happening across the businesses and turn projects, people, ideas, events and launches into engaging content.

A typical week might include:
  • Create, schedule and publish engaging content across LinkedIn, Instagram and other relevant social channels for all three companies.
  • Produce short-form video, reels and social-first content, including behind-the-scenes footage from projects, events and the studio.
  • Visit live projects, completed spaces, events and installations to capture photography, video and stories as they happen.
  • Turn project updates, new wins, launches and business activity into engaging social posts, case studies and website content.
  • Interview designers, clients, partners and team members to uncover stories and create people-led content.
  • Support photography and video shoots, including planning, shot lists, coordination and content repurposing.
  • Create simple graphics, social assets, presentations and branded content using Canva, Adobe Creative Suite or similar tools.
  • Support website updates, blogs, news stories, email campaigns and newsletters.
  • Help build the personal profiles of key people within the businesses through thought-leadership and social content.
  • Research trends and topical conversations across sport, stadia, hospitality, fitness, wellness, leisure, design and the markets relevant to our businesses.
  • Maintain forward-looking content calendars across all three companies, ensuring each brand receives consistent marketing attention.
  • Monitor social performance and engagement, identifying which formats, subjects and campaigns are working.
  • Work with the team to support campaigns around partnerships, events, project launches, awards and wider brand activity.
  • Find ways to turn one project, event or idea into multiple useful pieces of content across different channels and brands.
We’re looking for someone who is:
  • Creative, curious and naturally interested in content and social media.
  • A strong communicator who can write clear, engaging and accurate copy.
  • Comfortable creating high-quality content on a phone as well as working with professional photography and video.
  • Confident with LinkedIn, Instagram and short-form video formats for B2B content.
  • Visually aware, with a good eye for design, composition and brand consistency.
  • Proactive and able to spot a story or content opportunity without always being directed.
  • Comfortable approaching people, asking questions and capturing authentic content.
  • Organised and able to manage multiple brands, content calendars, deadlines and priorities.
  • Able to understand that each of our three companies has a different audience, voice and commercial objective.
  • Interested in design, sport, hospitality, lifestyle, leisure, fitness, wellness and emerging brands.
  • Excited by the opportunity to take responsibility and develop quickly within a growing marketing team.
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
  • Some experience creating social or digital content, whether professionally, through university, freelance work or your own channels.
  • Strong written English and attention to detail.
  • An understanding of how brands communicate differently across social platforms.
  • Confidence using content creation tools such as Canva, CapCut, Adobe Creative Suite or similar.
  • The ability to work independently while collaborating closely with our Marketing Executive and a busy, fast-moving wider team.
  • A portfolio or examples of content you have created would be advantageous.
What success looks like:
  • A significant increase in the volume, consistency and quality of content across all three companies.
  • Stronger engagement and audience growth across our key social channels.
  • Clear and recognisable personalities for each brand.
  • A reliable pipeline of project, people, product and thought-leadership content.
  • More video, behind-the-scenes and real-time content from projects and events.
  • Marketing that captures what is happening in the businesses as it happens, rather than retrospectively.
  • Content that not only builds awareness but also creates conversations and supports commercial opportunities.
The Perks:
  • A competitive salary, commensurate with experience.
  • Flexible working: A blend of studio and remote work.
  • Time off: 28 days of annual leave (including public holidays).
  • Wellbeing: On-site gym membership and private health cover.
  • Growth: Training, personal development opportunities and access to design, marketing and industry shows and events.
  • Culture: A social and collaborative team with regular lunches and events at exciting venues.
  • The essentials: A pension scheme, free parking and all the tech you need.
