Job description

Hello, we’re Starling. We built a new kind of bank because we knew technology had the power to help people save, spend and manage their money in a new and transformative way. We’re a fully licensed UK bank with the culture and spirit of a fast-moving, disruptive tech company. We’re a bank, but better: fairer, easier to use and designed to demystify money for everyone. We employ more than 3,500 people across our London, Southampton, Cardiff and Manchester offices.

We are looking for someone who is super organised, has great planning skills and has a background in content and channel management to join our growing Internal Communications team that sits in our People function.

In this role you’ll need to be able to juggle many requests for communication support, line them up, plan them as well as managing the channels we have, ideally in a framework that you’ll be able to co-create and own, while also supporting the Head of Internal Communications.

This fantastic opportunity will reshape and elevate the colleague experience, helping to connect and inform colleagues at Starling. We’d love you to be part strategic thinker combined with a ‘let’s make this happen’ attitude. You will have a passion for telling stories, delivering world-class campaigns that support business needs as well as continually looking at ways that we can stay fresh and innovative but above all have excellent planning skills.

This is a full-time position and will be a hybrid role, reporting to the Head of Internal Communications.

The Team:

The role is part of the Internal Communications team where there is a head of internal communications and an Internal Communications Partner already in place. The team sits within the People team.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • Find, create and/elevate stories from across the business
  • Deliver and maintain a content/channel plan aligned to our organisational strategy
  • Manage our existing communication channels; including audit, review and launch of new channels as required – we will be launching a new company-wide intranet
  • Build and own new channels to further get out stories and messaging to our key audiences
  • Co-ordinate and work with colleagues to oversee drafting of content and organisation-wide updates via Slack/email.
  • Manage the relevant Slack channels and respond to queries on a timely basis
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Brand and other Comms colleagues to align/adapt internal communications content as appropriate.
  • Support on internal events, partnership webinars and fundraising activities across all Starling’s offices
  • Actively maintain relationships with partner stakeholders, including coordinating and scheduling meetings
  • Helping audiences e.g., managers / teams to better communicate
  • Highly organised individual with strong planning and prioritisation skills
  • Someone who can think on their feet and deliver quickly, as required
  • Able to develop and execute content strategies aligned with organisational strategy/goals
  • Not afraid to ask questions and contribute ideas
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (spoken and written) with a keen eye for detail
  • Creative and resourceful, with an interest in driving best-in-class communications
  • Strong administrative skills
  • Experience of using Confluence
  • Ability to navigate Google Suite - not essential, just what we use
  • Ideally 5+ year’s experience in IC/employee engagement either agency or in-house
