Job summary

Forth Ports Group is seeking a Container Terminal Operative at Port of Tilbury to support landside and shipside operations, including moving containers with straddle carriers and handling cargo.

You will join a busy port environment with training provided, and contribute to safety and efficiency across shifts, including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence and full UK working rights.
• Willingness to work as part of a team and contribute to port operations.
• Flexible approach to shift patterns, including early, late, night shifts and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Drive straddle carriers to move containers within the Terminal / Port to service landside and shipside operations.
• Manual handling, lashing & mooring duties.
• Deliver customers cargo to and from vessels in the condition in which it was delivered to the terminal.
• Cargo handling, housekeeping and basic maintenance tasks.
• Understand and follow computer-delivered information.
• Uphold safety standards and adhere to operating policies and procedures.
• Ensure customer satisfaction and maintain shift start/finish integrity.
• Care for company property and equipment; carry out ad-hoc duties as requested.

Job Title: Container Terminal Operative

Location: Port of Tilbury

Role Type: Full time / Permanent

Salary: £41,556 + £1,243 shift allowance + overtime + benefits

Overtime earning potential can add up to c.£9,000 in additional earnings

Shifts: 5 over 7 days - please note due to the nature of the work involved, we require flexibility from all operatives to work shifts which may include early, late, night-shifts and / or weekends..

We have a number ofnew opportunities to join our LCT team at the Port of Tilbury as a Container Terminal Operative.

About The Role

Key Responsibilities

• Drive straddle carriers to move containers within the confines of the Terminal / Port, as necessary, to service the landside and shipside operations
• Manual handling, lashing & mooring
• Deliver customers cargo to and from vessels in the condition which it was delivered to the terminal
• Cargo handling, housekeeping duties and basic maintenance
• Ability to understand and follow computer delivered information
• Upholding the highest standards of safety and adherence to operating policies and procedures
• Deliver to customers satisfactions
• Maintain shift, start and finish time integrity
• Ensure that care is taken of company property and equipment
• Carry out other ad-hoc duties assigned by the line manager
