Job summary

Get Staff seeks a Container Driver HGV Class 1 (Cat C+E) for Portsmouth/Chichester. Roles include day, night and weekend shifts under a temporary contract. Immediate start with 14 weeks+ ongoing runs and weekly pay. You will operate HGV1 vehicles, log activity, and comply with port/site procedures.

Applicants should hold a valid HGV1 (C+E) licence, DP World Card, DCPC and tachograph card, with English proficiency and up to 6 penalty points. DP World card is essential.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid HGV Class 1 (C&E) licence and DP World Card.
• DCPC and Digital Tachograph card are required.
• Adequate English language skills (spoken, written, understood).

Responsibilities

• Operate HGV Class 1 lorries (articulated) for container transport.
• Complete deliveries and collections efficiently.
• Log activities in real time using devices.
• Adhere to site procedures, especially in port environments.
• Comply with Working Time Directive driving hours, breaks and rest periods.
• Follow health & safety policies and client policies.
• Carry out daily vehicle checks and report defects.
• Maintain professional attitude and excellent service.

• Pay Rate from £17.00ph - £25.00ph / £25.00-£30.00 for a night out

The Job- Container Driver HGV Class 1 (Cat C+E, HGV1, LGV1)

• Operate HGV Class 1 articulated lorries with automatic gearboxes, primarily for container transport
• Complete deliveries and collections efficiently
• Utilise smartphone or tablet devices to log collections, drops, and status updates in real-time.
• Comply with all site‑specific procedures, especially within port environments
• Observe all Working Time Directive (WTD) regulations, ensuring accurate logging of driving hours, breaks, and rest periods
• Follow health & safety protocols and adhere to both agency and client operational policies
• Conduct daily vehicle checks and report any defects in line with legal and company requirements
• Maintain a professional attitude and provide excellent service to clients and customers

Skills and Experience Required- Container Driver HGV Class 1 (Cat C+E, HGV1, LGV1)

• A valid HGV Class 1 (C&E) licence
• Must have Valid DP World Card
• A valid Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (DCPC)
• A valid Digital Tachograph card
• Must be able to use electronic devices (EPODs/smartphones/instruction screens)
• No more than 6 penalty points on your driving licence
• A minimum of 1 years' experience driving HGV1 class vehicles with containers
• A good level of English (spoken, written, and understood)
• Strong working knowledge of the UK motorway network and Working Time Directive (WTD) regulations
