The Opportunity

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Delivery Manager for Rail to join our Consulting Analytics & Advisory (A&A) Business on a permanent contract.

The A&A team has a world-class reputation in analytics, data-led transformations, and digital solutions in infrastructure. The team's expertise includes intelligent transport systems, asset management, and developing digital strategies for asset owners and operators across rail, highways, light rail, aviation, utilities, defence, and major structures.

The role

As the Delivery Manager for Rail within the Consulting A&A business, you will support the Delivery Director in leading the delivery of a portfolio of projects or major projects, ensuring client obligations and profit targets are met, and deploying the entire Consulting capability.

You will ensure the P&L, client delivery, and development of further work opportunities through existing frameworks and contracts, maximizing value from frameworks where appropriate.

Working with Practices to develop solutions, resource projects, and engage in business development to build a relevant future pipeline of work. Key responsibilities include:

  • Accountability for delivering a portfolio of projects/major projects on time, within budget, and with high client satisfaction.
  • Developing strategies to achieve optimal margins, with P&L responsibility for contracts.
  • Ensuring optimal use of Consulting capabilities.
  • Enhancing service delivery, sharing best practices, and seeking profit improvement opportunities.
  • Managing contract performance, including site and office visits as appropriate.
  • Building strong partnerships with Practice leads and Business Development teams.
  • Identifying additional revenue opportunities and liaising with business development to secure them.
  • Leading resources assigned to projects or programs.
  • Forecasting resource needs and managing client relationships through regular reviews.
  • Managing risks and developing contingency plans.
  • Managing supply chains and ensuring compliance with Amey governance standards.
  • Contributing to bidding activities and managing mobilization/demobilization of contracts.
  • Promoting a strong health and safety culture aligned with Amey Zero Code.

  • Degree or equivalent experience, with professional qualifications such as MBA, Chartered Manager, Prince 2, or APM.
