Our Planning team is growing, and we are looking for a Town Planner to support our expanding team with a range of planning duties focused on policy, strategy, infrastructure consents, and regeneration planning.

As part of our Environmental team, you'll help improve quality of life. Your specialization in environmental management, technical or sustainability expertise could involve work on protected species, pollution, surface water and materials management, air quality, or noise, often in some of the world's busiest and most beautiful locations.

We are addressing the effects of climate change, rapid urbanization, and loss of biodiversity. The frequency of large-scale, unforeseen events such as floods and wildfires is increasing. Our team supports clients with some of the UK's most complex and diverse projects, including Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects, energy and infrastructure developments, residential and commercial schemes, socio-economic, health, and community planning, as well as research into the planning process. Our clients include Highways England, Transport for London, Transport for Wales, HS2, National Grid, Homes England, the Environment Agency, Welsh Government, and the Canals & Rivers Trust, along with private developers, social landlords, and local authorities.

At Arcadis, variety comes as standard. You will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects across our business. As a Town Planner, your responsibilities will include:

  1. Providing planning advice to clients and collaborating with multi-disciplinary project teams on masterplans, planning applications, regeneration strategies, policies, and socio-economic and health impact assessments.
  2. Partnering with clients to understand their complex challenges and applying your technical skills to deliver optimal solutions.
  3. Supporting client relationships and work-winning efforts to develop your potential.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Experience in town planning, including policy, strategy, planning applications, consents, regeneration planning, and delivery, dealing with masterplans and frameworks.
  • Understanding of socio-economic, health, and equalities impact assessments for development and infrastructure projects.
  • Experience working on planning applications, especially infrastructure consents.
  • Experience providing planning support on masterplans and impact assessments, and working within matrix and dispersed teams.
  • A relevant degree and a Master's in an accredited planning course, working towards chartership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (MRTPI).
  • Understanding of stakeholder engagement methods, including engaging with hard-to-reach groups and virtual public engagement.

This role can be based in our Birmingham, Leeds, London, or Manchester offices, with opportunities to work from home.
