Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking a consultant stroke physician for a part-time locum post at Wycombe Hospital. The role includes patient management, teaching responsibilities, and participation in stroke service governance. Ideal candidates will have an MBBS, GMC registration, and experience in acute stroke care.
Job summary
A part time (7 PA) post as a consultant stroke physician is available at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust for a 12-month fixed-term locum.
The post will be based at Wycombe Hospital in High Wycombe, although there may be service commitments at Amersham hospital one month in four and potentially for out-patient follow-up clinics in the future. A CCT in Stroke Medicine is desirable but not essential, providing a candidate has sufficient experience in acute stroke and a CCT in a 'parent speciality' such as Geriatric Medicine, Acute Medicine, or Neurology.
This is part replacement post due to the retirement of one of the current consultants, and part new post. The successful candidate will be one of four stroke consultants based at Wycombe, and one of eight consultants contributing to the stroke on-call rota which operates on a '1 in 8' basis. There is no GIM component to the post.
Wycombe and Amersham are situated in a very attractive part of the country, close to London and yet enjoying the benefits of the countryside with the Chilterns recognised as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Buckinghamshire education utilises an 11+ selection system and schools are widely regarded as excellent.
