Job summary

The post of Consultant Radiologist – Upper GI and Hepatobiliary Imaging is a substantive role at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust, based primarily at Queen’s Hospital, Romford, with potential duties at Barking CDC and St. George’s CDC in Hornchurch.

Responsibilities

• Share an office space, secretarial support with another colleague with access to a PACS reporting station.
• Independently report body CT and MRI examinations, especially liver, pancreas and hepatobiliary system.
• Supervise and perform barium/contrast procedures.
• Perform transabdominal and ultrasound examinations.
• Report cross-sectional images for MRI/CT at CDC centres, King George’s and Queen’s Hospital.
• Contribute to the general duty roster and hot reporting sessions.
• Contribute to the specialist MDTs.
• Participate in mandatory department meetings.
• Share an on‑call commitment equally with the general radiology consultants.
• Liaise with colleagues, GPs, community services and other healthcare agencies; promote team and multi-disciplinary working.
• Maintain confidentiality about sensitive data per Trust guidelines.
• Make judicious use of resources and systems provided by the Trust.
• Participate in development/implementation of policy and management of radiology services.
• Attend departmental governance meetings including incident investigations and audits.
• Attend operational and clinical meetings essential to department/service.
• Acquire and maintain evidence-based practice in your area of special interest.
• Comply with Trust policies on job planning, appraisal and leave.
• Deputize for an absent consultant when necessary to complete core services.
• Ensure prompt attendance at agreed clinical care programmed activities.
• Ensure mandatory training is up to date per the Trust policy.
