The post holder will be an independent Consultant Therapy Radiographer for Urology and Palliative Radiotherapy, registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Therapeutic Radiographer, accountable for delivering a high-quality service with a high degree of autonomy to patients in their care. The role encompasses expert practice, professional leadership and consultancy, education and training, and practice and service development. Responsibilities include managing new patient referrals, obtaining informed consent, treatment planning, prescribing radiotherapy, approving complex plans, participating in MDT pathways, and collecting treatment outcomes. The post involves mentorship, clinical supervision, research, and acting as Principal Investigator, scheduled into the job plan.
Entry point is 70% of top of band 8B under Annex 21 or current salary if higher, with pay protection. Progression to band 8B depends on training completion and achievement of MSc modules and competencies.

The department features advanced equipment, including 3 Varian Truebeam Linear Accelerators, a Gulmay Unit, and a Canon LB Exceed wide bore CT scanner with radiographer-led virtual simulation using Eclipse. We are expanding our radiographer-led services for Urology patients, including recent extensions to the Lung SABR service and SGRT with tattoo-less radiotherapy. A new bunker is under construction for a replacement Truebeam with SGRT and a 6DOF couch. Shropshire offers a high quality of life in a scenic, rural setting.
