Metabolic is a specialist private clinic in Knightsbridge, London, offering integrated care for diabetes, obesity, cardiometabolic disease and related metabolic conditions. Imaging is central to how we diagnose, risk-stratify and monitor these conditions over time, spanning bone density scanning through to cardiovascular and metabolic imaging.

Role Summary

We are looking for an experienced, HCPC-registered Consultant Radiographer to lead our imaging service. This is a senior post at the top of the four-tier radiography career framework. You will combine expert clinical practice with professional leadership, education and service development. You will shape how imaging supports diagnosis and monitoring across our multidisciplinary metabolic care model.

Core Responsibilities
1. Expert Clinical Practice
  • Acquire and, where within agreed scope of practice, report on imaging studies including DEXA and other modalities relevant to metabolic and cardiovascular care.
  • Undertake Practitioner and/or Operator duties under the Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations 2017 (IR(ME)R) as appropriate to the role.
  • Correlate imaging findings with clinical history and other investigations to support diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Maintain the highest standards of image quality, diagnostic accuracy and radiation safety.
2. Professional Leadership and Consultancy
  • Lead the imaging service and set the clinical standard for the team to follow.
  • Act as the senior point of reference for complex imaging cases.
  • Advise the wider clinical team on imaging pathways, protocols and equipment.
  • Represent imaging services in multidisciplinary team meetings and clinical governance forums.
3. Education, Training and Service Development
  • Support, oversee and supervise the training and development of clinical colleagues involved in imaging.
  • Lead on the development of imaging protocols, standard operating procedures and service improvements.
  • Keep the imaging service aligned with current Society and College of Radiographers guidance.
4. Research and Evaluation
  • Contribute to clinical audit, service evaluation and research relevant to metabolic and cardiovascular imaging.
  • Use evidence and outcome data to inform service improvement and clinical decision-making.
5. Quality, Safety and Regulatory Compliance
  • Ensure imaging services comply with Care Quality Commission (CQC) Fundamental Standards and contribute to inspection readiness.
  • Ensure compliance with IR(ME)R 2017, the Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017 (IRR17), employer procedures and local rules.
  • Follow safeguarding procedures for children and vulnerable adults, including mandatory training to the required level.
  • Handle patient information in line with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Requirements
Key Requirements and Skills
Education
  • BSc (Hons) in Diagnostic Radiography or an equivalent recognised qualification.
  • Postgraduate qualification supporting advanced or consultant-level practice, such as an MSc in a relevant clinical specialism.
Registration
  • Current HCPC registration as a Radiographer.
  • Active membership of the Society and College of Radiographers.
Experience
  • Significant experience working at advanced or consultant practice level within diagnostic imaging.
  • Demonstrable experience in DEXA, musculoskeletal or cardiovascular imaging is desirable.
  • Evidence of contribution to service development, education or research.
  • Right to work in the United Kingdom.
  • Satisfactory Enhanced DBS check.
