Role Requirements
Contract date: 26th May – Ongoing
Shift: Full-Time
Time for Shift: 09:00-17:00
Duties: This post offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a forward-thinking, recovery-focused service providing acute mental health care and assessment for individuals in crisis. This role forms a key part of the wider CRISS pathway, which is integral to the delivery of acute mental health care in Leeds. The Consultant will provide senior medical leadership for the CAU and Section 136 suite, working closely with multidisciplinary colleagues to deliver high-quality, person-centred assessments and brief interventions. The Consultant will collaborate across the acute care pathway, including with CRISS locality teams, acute inpatient wards, and Leeds OASIS — a service offering alternatives to admission in a supportive, homely environment.
Key Responsibilities: Lead psychiatric assessments for patients admitted to the CAU and those detained under Section 136. Provide senior clinical leadership and medical input within the multidisciplinary team (MDT), ensuring timely and effective care planning. Liaise with CRISS teams, inpatient services, and community partners to support smooth transitions in and out of acute care. Apply the Mental Health Act (MHA) as required. Prescribe using the Trust’s electronic prescribing system. There is no routine requirement to undertake community-based crisis assessments — these are generally conducted by the CRISS locality teams (East, South, West).
As the UK’s largest medical recruitment agency, we understand the importance of flexibility. If this role isn’t quite suitable and you’d like to find a role closer to home or with any other specific requirements – we’re best placed to help.
