Job description

Join the 'Outstanding' team at The Chimney's Clinic, as rated by the CQC. As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will join a passionate team dedicated to delivering the highest quality of care for patients. You will be part of a supportive learning environment for staff members.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to work within a highly collaborative team, supported by a Medical Secretary and a Specialist Doctor to ensure efficient daily operations.

As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to provide holistic, person-centered care based on the recovery model. You will also support high-quality clinical care within the hospital services.

You will have opportunities for regular career development, access to excellent CPD, and a large peer group of enthusiastic, high-caliber consultants.

As a Consultant Psychiatrist, your responsibilities will include:

  • Taking clinical responsibility for patients, including multidisciplinary ward rounds, risk reviews, and strategic planning.
  • Fulfilling the role of Responsible Clinician for patients detained under the Mental Health Act (1983).
  • Providing psychiatric perspectives for assessment, formulation, and treatment.
  • Contributing to management and clinical governance meetings, and service strategy development.
  • Participating in in-house training and supervising junior medical staff.
  • Maintaining CPD and re-validation requirements as per professional standards.
  • Participating in an on-call rota as Responsible Clinician.

To succeed in this role, you should:

  • Be medically qualified (MRC Psych or equivalent).
  • Be innovative, with the ability to initiate strategic decisions.
  • Have a good understanding of current developments in psychiatry and mental health.
  • Possess knowledge of change management, relevant legislation, and contractual issues.
  • Have previous experience in a management role as a Consultant.
