Job description

Job summary

The post holder is expected to work 10 programmed activities per week. After appointment, a review meeting with the Lead Consultant will be held within three months to revise the job plan and objectives. The duties include 7.5 activities dedicated to direct clinical care and 2.5 to supporting professional activities, as recommended by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.

Main duties of the job

1. Provide clinical leadership for the ward team and trainees.
2. Manage a 17-bed ward with admissions from across the trust's area.
3. Conduct daily ward reviews and rounds, support CPA completion.
4. Assess new admissions.
5. Assist in diagnosis and management planning for all presentations.
6. Assess and manage risks including vulnerability, suicide, health and safety, and harm to others.
7. Coordinate care with pharmacists.
8. Prepare reports and attend hearings for the Mental Health Review Tribunal and Managers' Hearings.
9. Handle consent to treatment paperwork and other MHA-related work such as section 17 leave, renewals, and CTOs if needed.
10. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external partners.
11. Work with psychiatrists from partner providers, including forensic and rehabilitation psychiatrists.
