Job summary

Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust seeks a Full-time Consultant Psychiatrist to join the Specialist Adult Mental Health Service in Lewes, East Sussex. 10 programmed activities over 5 days with primary focus on direct clinical care and collaboration with local partners.

The post includes a Recruitment and Retention payment of £45,000 pro rata for part-time arrangements, with upfront £15,000 on successful recruitment. UK registration and NHS values are essential.

Job summary

We are seeking a Full time (10 PA per week) Consultant Psychiatrist to join the newly formed Specialist Adult Mental Health Service within the Lewes Neighbourhood, East Sussex.

You will be joining a mutually supportive, friendly and enthusiastic team with a real passion for what we do.

This job attracts a Recruitment and Retention payment of £45,000 structured over a three-year period as follows:

• £15,000 payable upon successful recruitment

The Recruitment and Retention payment is pro rata for part time employees.

Main duties of the job

The team is gradually moving to a Neighbourhood model, where secondary care works in close collaboration with GPs, East Sussex Wellbeing, third sector services and other local partners, to offer the right help in the right place and by the right professional, reducing the excessive and inappropriate demands on specialist services.

Towards the same aim, we have implemented fully New Ways of Working for psychiatrists and will soon introduce the post-CPA recommendations of NHSE and a new Electronic Patient Record system.

About us

We offer annual Job Planning to review the needs of the professional and the service and plan accordingly the timetable of activities and objectives for the next year.

Job responsibilities

It is envisaged that the post holder will work 10 programmed activities over 5 days.

The overall split of the programmed activities is 7.5 to be devoted to direct clinical care and 2.5 to supporting professional activities.

Person Specification

Qualifications & Eligibility

• MB BS or equivalent medical qualification
• Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
• Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months.
• In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice
• Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment

Transport

• Holds and will use valid UK driving licence OR provides evidence of proposed alternative.

• Excellent knowledge in specialty
• Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
• Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to post within NHS or comparable service
