Job summary

Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust is seeking a fixed-term locum Consultant Psychiatrist to work in Intellectual Disability within the West Kent MHLD Team, based at Britton House, Gillingham. The role covers Medway catchment with outpatient clinics and community care; responsibilities include liaison with the wider MHLD, CLDT, and adult services.

The post features 2–3 outpatient clinics weekly, approximately 50–60 patients under responsibility, and opportunities for mentoring

Responsibilities

• Manage patients’ care in the community and liaise with MHLD team and other services.
• Attend the weekly West Kent Hub meeting to discuss new referrals and priority cases.
• Directly assess some new referrals for initial assessment and provide psychiatric advice to team members.
• Contribute to the clinical leadership of the team.
• Involve in inpatient admissions of community patients when necessary, including use of the Mental Health Act.
