Job Overview
The post holder will be responsible for Older Persons Services, covering GP surgeries in the North Denbighshire area. The role includes providing CPA reviews, ward rounds for inpatients in the catchment area, outpatient clinics, and medical input to the memory service. The post involves managing organic referrals for the catchment area. Graduates may be considered by agreement with adult consultant psychiatrists if they meet criteria for complex needs at age 65. The post requires compliance with the Mental Health (Wales) Measure 2010. Depending on availability, a junior doctor may also be attached to the post. The post may also involve responsibilities under the Mental Health Act (1983) as a section 12/2 approved doctor.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide specialist psychiatric assessment, treatment, and management for individuals with cognitive impairment (including Young Onset Dementias) and those over 70 with functional illnesses. They will work within legislative frameworks, providing medical leadership to the CMHTE, and consulting with Primary Mental Health Services for the Elderly. Responsibilities include caring for a limited number of personal cases, providing Care and Treatment Plans, and delivering services as a Responsible Clinician under the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act. The role also involves supporting the Health Board in long-term healthcare commissioning.
