This is a 0.8 WTE substantive Consultant post in the Harrogate Acute Hospital Liaison Service (AHLS), replacing the previous post-holder who moved internally.

AHLS provides a Core-24 Liaison Psychiatry service to Harrogate District Hospital, within the whole systems model for Harrogate, Hambleton, and Richmondshire.

Main duties of the job

This 8PA post offers opportunities for leadership and educational roles. Full-time applicants are encouraged to apply.

The role involves care for both Working Age Adults (WAA) and Older Adults (OA). Applicants with dual or single CCT qualifications are welcome. Support and supervision will be provided if needed. Liaison Psychiatry experience and endorsement are preferred.

Leadership (Essential)

  • Leads in multidisciplinary teams and understands NHS and trust structures.
  • Commits to quality improvement and can lead service change.
Academic Skills & Lifelong Learning (Essential)
  • Delivers undergraduate/postgraduate teaching, participates in CPD, research, audit, and service evaluation.
  • Has evidence of achievements in education, research, and service improvements.
Qualifications (Essential)
  • MB BS or equivalent, GMC registration, and license.
  • Higher degree in medical education, research, or management.
  • MRCPsych or CESR qualification.
  • Additional clinical qualifications.
Clinical Skills, Knowledge & Experience (Essential)
  • Strong specialty knowledge and clinical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to manage complexity and uncertainty.
  • Decision-making based on evidence and experience.
  • Compliance with MHA and MCA.
  • Wide specialist experience within NHS or similar.
  • Eligible for Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT.
  • Approved clinician and S12 status or able to achieve within 3 months.
  • In good standing with GMC.
