Applicants must have full GMC Registration, a license to practice, and be eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. UK-trained applicants should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the interview date. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.
This is a permanent, part-time position (24 hours per week) based in No. 11 Dalkeith. The role involves leading psychiatric and medical assessments for patients referred to Midlothian, acting as the lead clinician for substance use treatment, and contributing to service development focused on resilience, rehabilitation, and recovery.
The post includes offering outpatient clinics, participating in multidisciplinary team meetings, supervising medical staff, trainees, or career-grade doctors, and may require training to become an Approved Medical Practitioner under the Mental Health Act (Scotland). There is no on-call requirement.
