Job summary

Evolve Staffing Ltd. in Southampton is seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist for an ongoing, long-term placement within an NHS mental health Trust.

The role focuses on clinical consultations, outpatient care, medication management and patient rehabilitation, without active Section 12 or Approved Clinician duties. You will work closely with community care teams to deliver high-quality psychiatric care across the city, providing senior evaluations, follow-ups, medication reviews, and MDT collaboration

Qualifications

• Full GMC Registration with a Licence to Practise.
• MRCPsych qualification or equivalent international post-graduate medical qualification.
• GMC Specialist Register entry for General Adult Psychiatry preferred (or demonstrable equivalent senior clinical experience).

Responsibilities

• Provide senior clinical evaluations, psychiatric diagnoses, and holistic management plans for adult service users within outpatient and community settings.
• Conduct routine psychiatric follow-up appointments, medication reviews, and therapeutic monitoring for individuals with enduring mental illness.
• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary framework comprising psychiatric nurses, social workers, occupational therapists, and clinical psychologists.
• Communicate effectively with primary care General Practitioners to ensure coordinated community care and smooth transition plans.
• Implement evidence-based pharmacological treatments for mood disorders, anxiety, psychosis, and personality disorders according to NICE guidelines.

This specialized position is ideal for an experienced psychiatric doctor who prefers focusing purely on clinical consultations, outpatient care, medication management, and patient rehabilitation without requiring active Section 12 or Approved Clinician statutory duties. The appointed doctor will work closely with community care teams to deliver high-quality, continuous psychiatric care across the city of Southampton.

Core Clinical Responsibilities

• Provide senior clinical evaluations, psychiatric diagnoses, and holistic management plans for adult service users within outpatient and community settings.
• Conduct routine psychiatric follow-up appointments, medication reviews, and therapeutic monitoring for individuals with enduring mental illness.
• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary framework comprising psychiatric nurses, social workers, occupational therapists, and clinical psychologists.
• Communicate effectively with primary care General Practitioners (GPs) to ensure coordinated community care and smooth transition plans.
• Implement evidence-based pharmacological treatments for mood disorders, anxiety, psychosis, and personality disorders according to NICE guidelines.
• Maintain accurate, clear, and timely electronic medical records across all patient contacts.

Essential Candidate Requirements

• Full GMC Registration with a current Licence to Practise.
• GMC Specialist Register entry for General Adult Psychiatry preferred (or demonstrable equivalent senior clinical experience).
• MRCPsych qualification or equivalent international post-graduate medical qualification.
• Strong clinical background in community adult psychiatry within the NHS.
• Excellent clinical decision-making, communication, and interpersonal skills.
