Consultant Physician with an Interest in Respiratory Medicine

We are assisting one of the UK's prestigious NHS Trusts in recruiting a Consultant Physician with an interest in Respiratory Medicine for either a Substantive or NHS Fixed Term position for 12 months, to join their successful Medicine department.

The Trust is one of the largest acute and community providers in the West Midlands, with over 850 beds at the main site and additional rehabilitation beds at two other sites. Employing over 10,000 staff across more than 350 roles, the Trust has achieved numerous accolades, including:

• Rated outstanding in caring by the CQC in February 2020
• Openings of specialized units, such as a £2.4 million Stroke Unit in 2018
• Setting UK records for days without healthcare-acquired MRSA bacteraemia
• Significant reductions in MSSA bacteraemia and C. difficile cases
• Implementation of robotic surgery and telemedicine services

The successful candidate will be expected to:

• Develop and provide acute medical and respiratory services, collaborating across disciplines and levels of care
• Take ongoing responsibility for patients under their care
• Participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programs
• Contribute to NIHR respiratory trials recruitment
• Develop special skills aligned with service development
• Engage in clinical governance, risk management, and audits
• Supervise and develop trainee doctors
• Contribute to bronchoscopy services, including EBUS
• Share general acute medical duties and provide 7-day ward care, including on-call duties
