We seek two proactive, forward-thinking, and dynamic individuals to join our expanding team.
The acute medicine team is based in a purpose-built Acute Medical Unit, adjacent to the Medical Same Day Emergency Care Unit and Emergency Department, and near the Surgical Assessment Unit and ITU.
We are recruiting for two posts to establish an acute physician consultant model comprising 14 substantive consultants.
The role involves working with a multidisciplinary team across key service areas, with flexible work within the acute medical bed base: AMU, AFU (with the frailty team), SDEC, and ED.

The main duties include assessment, early decision-making, and coordination of patient care in the acute medicine bed base, providing leadership to the acute medical take. The team works flexibly across AMU, AFU, SDEC, and ED.

Clinical duties involve a rotational job plan with other acute physicians, including DCC and SPA activities, with explicit allowance for clinical administration (1 PA based on a 10 PA plan or above). The rota ensures cross-cover and continuity. The role involves premium hours, including evenings and weekends, with office and secretarial support provided.
Successful candidates will require an enhanced DBS check (£45.50), deducted from the first salary, and must join the DBS update service (£16 annually).
