Consultant Physician in Acute & General Medicine
NHS Lanarkshire - University Hospital Monklands
University Hospital Monklands (UHM) is seeking a Consultant Physician in Acute & General Medicine to join its team, which includes four Acute Physicians, General Physicians with sub-specialty interests, and a multi-disciplinary team.
The department has redesigned its Medical Assessment Unit (MAU) processes, supporting new developments like the Ambulatory Emergency Care (AEC) unit.
Acute Physicians are supported by Physician of the Day and Physician of the Week models, along with Specialist Nurses in MAU, and collaborate closely with Emergency Department staff.
The successful candidate will participate in a flexible, variable acute rota, including Physician of the Week/Day and weekend on-call duties.
Applications are welcome from enthusiastic individuals eager to develop services. Sub-specialty interests are supported.
This full-time post is offered on a 10 PA basis, with 8 for Direct Clinical Care and 2 for Supporting Professional Activities, subject to final job plan approval. Part-time applications are also considered.
This is an exciting time to join UHM, with the new hospital location identified. It will be Scotland’s first digital hospital, enhancing patient care and staff experience through technology. Staff are encouraged to contribute to developing clinical models for the new hospital.
UHM has close links with the University of Glasgow, offering excellent educational opportunities for medical students and staff involved in teaching, research, or scholarship. Honorary status at the University provides benefits such as ID cards, library access, and IT services, along with educational discounts.
Interviews are scheduled for 29th July 2025.
