FIXED TERM CONSULTANT in GENERAL & ACUTE INTERNAL MEDICINE (GIM & AIM) WITH SPECIAL INTEREST IN PAIN MEDICINE
Applications are invited for a unique position, which combines General and Acute (Internal) Medicine in Perth Royal Infirmary with a special interest in Pain Medicine, working with the Tayside Pain Service. This a new post to supplement our current model of inpatient General Internal Medicine and Acute Medical Receiving.
We are looking for a new colleague to help us deliver excellent medical care to our vibrant District General Hospital. Perth Royal Infirmary has a 1 in 12 Acute Medical Receiving rota which includes weekend and overnight on-call. In addition, the successful applicant will take part in postgraduate training and education along with opportunities to collaborate in research, and quality improvement.
The successful applicant will contribute to inpatient General Internal Medicine inpatients in Perth Royal Infirmary. This is delivered as 2 weeks G(I)M 'hot' blocks.
In addition, the successful applicant will join the Pain Team consisting of consultants in Pain Medicine and Anaesthesia and a multidisciplinary team providing both inpatient and outpatient services and linking closely with the Acute Palliative Care Unit.
The post will be approximately a 50:50 split between Acute & General Medicine and Pain Medicine.
Candidates should possess MRCP and be on the GMC Specialist Register in General Internal Medicine or be within 6 months of the anticipated award of CCT or CESR (CP) at the time of interview for the post. Evidence of interest/experience in Pain Medicine is also essential.
