Job summary

West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a specialist interest in Lower Limb, Hip and Knee Arthroplasty to join the Trauma and Orthopaedics team across Watford General Hospital and St Albans City Hospital. You will provide consultant-led care, supervise junior doctors, and contribute to audits and service improvements.

The role involves cross-site work, with training and development opportunities, and a commitment to high-quality patient

Qualifications

• Eligible for full GMC registration and onto the GMC Specialist Register within 6 months of appointment.
• Excellence in clinical skills with ability to apply a wide range of theoretical approaches.
• Higher Academic Degree required.
• At least five years at Specialist Registrar or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Provide consultant-led trauma and elective orthopaedic care with a focus on lower limb surgery.
• Deliver outpatient clinics, elective lists, trauma care, fracture clinics and on-call duties across two sites.
• Support training and development of junior doctors and participate in audits, governance and research.
• Lead and collaborate within multidisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes and experience.
