Role Summary

The Ophthalmology Department at the Royal Devon is proud to be a centre of innovation and ambition, continuously advancing care and outcomes in the field of ophthalmology.

We are looking to appoint a dynamic and dedicated Consultant Ophthalmologist with a subspecialty interest in Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus to join our experienced and supportive team. This role will be primarily based at the West of England Eye Unit, Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (Wonford), however will involve travel to peripheral sites, including Axminster, Heavitree and North Devon District Hospital in Barnstaple.

The successful candidate will bring expertise in comprehensive paediatric ophthalmology, including paediatric cataract management and ROP screening. Additional subspecialist interest in complex strabismus or ocular genetics is highly desirable. A commitment to general ophthalmology, including outpatient clinics and participation in the on-call rota, is also essential.

You’ll be joining a welcoming and highly skilled multidisciplinary team, including outstanding Orthoptists and Optometrists, all working collaboratively to deliver exceptional patient care.

About the Role

This post is initially for a fixed term period of months.

Working Pattern: Monday to Friday (including evenings/ weekend as part of the on call rota)
