Job summary

Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a permanent medical oncology consultant to join a team of 13 consultants at Queen's Hospital, Romford. The post covers breast and one other tumour subsite, with opportunities in acute oncology and related subspecialties, serving a population of 750,000.

The successful candidate will lead in high-quality diagnosis, treatment and care, contribute to MDTs, and participate in on-call duties.

Qualifications

Full and Specialist registration and a license to practice.
Holder of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or CCT date is within six months of interview.
Experience of teaching and training of undergraduates and junior medical staff
Evidence of achievement appropriate to appointment at consultant level
Involvement in clinical trials
Understanding the principles of clinical audit

Responsibilities

Provide the full range of oncology services to patients, including diagnosis, treatment and care.
Manage breast malignancy cases; handle 170–200 new patients per year (~4–5 weekly over 42 weeks).
Participate in Acute Oncology Service and provide oncology guidance to nurses.
Engage with MDT site-specific teams and deliver outpatient chemotherapy and inpatient opinions.
Participate in out-of-hours on-call service.
