Applications are invited for a Consultant in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery who is fellowship trained in knee and revision knee surgery. The post arises to cover the substantial workload in trauma arthroplasty activity.
A candidate unable to undertake the duties of a full-time post for personal reasons will receive equal consideration. If appointed, the job content will be modified appropriately in consultation with colleagues and management.

The appointee will be expected to perform the full spectrum of knee arthroplasty surgery, primarily focusing on addressing the waiting list backlog, including outpatient, day case, and inpatient care, as well as managing trauma cases admitted to NNUH.
The NNUH is among the busiest acute hospitals in the country, with two dedicated trauma theatres running 5 days a week and one at weekends. The successful candidate will join the on-call rota at a frequency of 1 in 18, operating on a 6-week cycle with teams of three consultants who suspend elective commitments during their on-call week.
The candidate must be competent in the primary management of all acute trauma, with support available in specialized areas such as paediatrics and spines. Complex cases are referred to specialists, and such cases will be scheduled in elective or additional trauma lists.
All T&O consultants at NNUH share office space, junior doctor support, and secretarial services. The successful candidate will do the same on an equitable basis.
