The Hillingdon Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a consultant in stroke medicine to join and contribute to a 24-bed acute stroke unit, stroke clinic and TIA services. The post combines replacement and new duties to meet growing demand in hospital and community care.

Entry on GMC Specialist Register or CCT in geriatrics/general internal medicine is required within six months; MRCP or equivalent is essential. GMC registration with licence to practise is mandatory.

Qualifications

• MRCP or equivalent is required.
• Full GMC registration with licence to practise is required.
• Inclusion on GMC Specialist Register for geriatrics, or within six months of expected CCT in geriatrics and general internal medicine, or entry on GMC Specialist Register is required.
• Higher degree (MD or PhD) is desirable.

Responsabilités

• Provide consultant input to the stroke unit, ESD and outpatient stroke services.
• Work with consultant colleagues and other healthcare professionals to deliver an effective, comprehensive stroke service.
• Support quality improvement and service development in the department.
• Use SPA time for clinical and educational supervision, audit and mandatory training.
• Complete annual appraisal, including personal CPD, as required for revalidation.

This consultant post in stroke medicine at The Hillingdon Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is partly a replacement and partly new, created as demand for stroke care grows in hospital and the community. The post-holder joins two existing stroke physicians and provides consultant input to the stroke unit, ESD and outpatient stroke services. The role is a minimum of 9 PAs, including 7 PAs DCC and 2 SPA, alongside a 24-bed acute stroke unit, a weekly stroke clinic and daily TIA clinics. Entry on the GMC Specialist Register for geriatrics, or a CCT due within six months, is required.
