Job summary

The Hillingdon Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a six-month locum consultant in stroke medicine to cover a mix of in-hospital and outpatient work. The post supports two existing stroke physicians on a 24-bed unit and in clinics, with a 10 PA framework including 7.5 PA direct clinical care.

Candidates should hold MRCP, with GMC registration, and be on or shortlisted for geriatrics/general medicine specialist registration within six months.

Qualifications

• MRCP or equivalent.
• Full GMC registration with licence to practise.
• Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register for geriatrics, or CCT in geriatrics and general internal medicine due within six months.
• Entry on the GMC Specialist Register.

Responsibilities

• Provide a comprehensive stroke service on the stroke unit and in outpatient stroke clinics, with consultant colleagues and other health professionals in the directorate.
• Support quality improvement and service development in the department.
• Deliver 7.5 PA direct clinical care within a 10 PA post.
• Use 2.5 PA SPA for clinical and educational supervision, audit, personal CPD and mandatory training.
• Keep personal CPD as part of the mandatory annual appraisal, required for revalidation.
• Work to the Divisional Director of Unplanned Care.

Job description

This six-month locum consultant post in stroke medicine at The Hillingdon Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is part replacement and part new, created as demand for stroke services grows. The post-holder will work alongside two existing stroke physicians on the 24-bed acute stroke unit and in outpatient stroke clinics. The 10 PA post includes 7.5 PA direct clinical care and serves Hillingdon and neighbouring areas. Candidates need MRCP and either entry on the geriatrics specialist register or a CCT due within six months.
