Herefordshire Council is seeking a Consultant in Public Health to join the Public Health team in Herefordshire. The role balances strategic leadership across adult health improvement and public health intelligence, with a strong focus on prevention and reducing inequalities.
The post offers hybrid working, a 37-hour week, a permanent contract, and a salary of £91,210 to £96,081 per year, with relocation support and Local Government Pension Scheme membership.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our Public Health team in Herefordshire. We are a small, well established team in an organisation and system that values public health and prevention.
As one of the Council’s senior leaders, your role will involve leading across adult Health Improvement and Public Health Intelligence. This includes smoking, physical activity, healthy weight, population health management, the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment and other programme areas as priorities dictate. The rurality of Herefordshire combined with its small city and market towns provides a challenge in how we commission and provide services.

We are committed to tackling inequalities and are passionate about what we do, we place emphasis on personal development, have a good reputation as a training location and have good links to academic partners.
We have strong links with our Integrated Care Board and our One Herefordshire Partnership is unique in providing place based leadership across a County that is coterminous with NHS Wye Valley Trust and our GP Federation for Herefordshire: Taurus Healthcare.
The council’s Flexible Futures programme offers a number of initiatives that support staff in their flexible working choices.
The role will be of interest to either a newly qualified or seeking your first Consultant post or an experienced Consultant. We would like to hear from individuals that share our desire to make a difference, innovate and take pride in their work.
The appointment will be for 37 hours Full time. Part time/Job Share will be considered
