We are looking to fill 2 (WTE) substantive Consultant Histopathologist posts, which have become vacant due to retirement. The expected working hours are 9 AM - 5 PM, with some time shifting if agreed locally. The post is based at the Hemel Hempstead site. Appointees will be expected to provide diagnostic surgical pathology services for the Trust, with the distribution of work reflecting service needs and the specialist interests of the appointee. Successful candidates will be eligible for a relocation allowance of £12,000 (if required). The Trust has agreed a proposal for up to 1 PA of SPA time per week to be worked flexibly. This change aligns with the Trust's flexible working agenda and recognizes the significant contribution of this staff group to our staff and patients.
The appointee will participate in routine reporting of histopathology and possibly diagnostic cytology specimens, focusing on Gynae and Skin samples, along with miscellaneous samples. This can be negotiated at the time of the interview. The appointee will also provide cover for the MDT and attend clinical governance meetings. There is no out-of-hours commitment.

The appointee will join a team of 12 consultants and two clinical fellows, contributing to teaching and supervision of trainees. The department has subspecialized reporting groups for major cancer types. There will be no requirement for cervical cytology and cervical screening histology reporting. CPD registration with the Royal College of Pathologists is expected.

Salary ranges from £105,504 to £139,882 per year, with an additional £149 per annum for London Fringe.
