Job summary

Velindre Cancer Centre in Wales is seeking clinical leadership to support a novel AOS Consultant outreach service across the South East Wales footprint. The post holder will work with Lung Cancer teams, site-specific clinical and medical oncologists, CNS, pharmacy prescribers and Velindre-based trial teams to deliver coordinated cancer care.

There is a weekly MDT and a new patient/follow‑up clinic with SACT clinic support, as Velindre prepares for the Spring 2027 opening of the new Velindre

Job description

The postholder would be working with the local Lung Cancer teams and the Lung Site Specific Team of Clinical and Medical Oncologists, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Pharmacy Prescribers and other professionals at Velindre Cancer Centre.

Velindre Cancer Centre in collaboration with Aneurin Bevan University Health Board (ABUHB), Cardiff and Vale University Health Board (CAVUHB), Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board (CTMUHB) has developed a business plan in providing an AOS Consultant outreach service across the South East Wales footprint. It is recognised that, in order to achieve a transformation in outcomes and experience for patients with cancer in South East Wales, it is essential to have a coordinated and aligned approach to change across the whole cancer system. This change is to aids timely, regular support to health boards (HBs)., The post holder will provide clinical oncology services for patients with lung cancer in Aneurin Bevan University Health Board, working closely with Consultant Clinical Oncologists, Professor Paul Shaw and Dr Po Chan, alongside Health Board Respiratory teams, clinical nurse specialists and Velindre based research team and clinical trials nurses. There is a weekly MDT meeting and a new patient/follow-up clinic at the Health Board, and a SACT clinic at VCC supported by CNS and non-medical prescribers.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
