Job summary

Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust seeks a consultant psychiatrist for CAMHS within the MARRS rapid response service. The role provides clinical leadership to a 24/7 crisis service across community and acute settings, coordinating with paediatrics, police, and community children’s services.

You will supervise team members and contribute to strategic development and trainee education. The post offers opportunities for involvement in research or further qualification via flexible SPA above

Qualifications

  • CCT/ or equivalent in CAMHS.
  • Substantial experience managing a busy caseload of CAMHS patients.
  • Experience of assessing and treating young patients in acute & community settings; providing expert opinion.
  • Excellent clinical assessment skills.
  • Ability to manage risk and understand community structures and social care processes.
  • Understanding of recovery principles in mental health.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert psychiatric leadership within the CAMHS MARRS team.
  • Assess and treat young people with acute mental health difficulties.
  • Collaborate with paediatrics, police, 136 Suite and community services.
  • Support medical trainees and advanced clinical practitioners; supervise where appropriate.
  • Contribute to strategic development and service improvement with the Trust leadership.

Job description

Cornwall Partnership is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic consultant psychiatrist to join the Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service in the multi-agency rapid response service (MARRS), the role will provide Clinical leadership to a service providing a crisis response for young people with acute mental health difficulties, across the community and the acute service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This includes working with other professionals such as paediatrics, police, the 136 Suite, the wider community children's services, and the inpatient unit., This post is part of the leadership team within the service and will provide appropriate support and supervision to other team members. The post holder will be part of a clinical team providing specialist psychiatric advice to the multidisciplinary team. There is the potential to support medical trainees and advanced clinical practitioners, who will be supervised by the consultant. The post-holder with other senior members of the CAMHS Team will be responsible for ensuring there is effective communication with referring and receiving teams throughout the Trust, and Primary care. Where appropriate the post-holder will join therapy sessions in complex cases. Whilst primarily responsible for delivering a quality clinical service the Consultant psychiatrist is also expected to be actively involved in the strategic development of the team and broader services, being involved with the service manager in helping to steer the development of the service in line with the strategic direction of the organisation. The successful candidate will develop a personal development plan for lifelong learning .
