Job summary

Dorset Healthcare is seeking a CAMHS consultant to provide leadership to a multidisciplinary team, focusing on assessments and treatments for patients up to 18 years old. You will help with transition to adult services where appropriate and work across Weymouth & Portland and West Dorset CAMHS teams.

You will participate in regular MDTs, on-call duties, and a supportive, dedicated unit with a strong focus on patient care and staff development. A relocation package is offered.

• Experience in coordinating care for patients under 18 with mental health needs.
• Ability to support transition to adult mental health services when appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Lead a multidisciplinary CAMHS team alongside Consultant Psychiatrist, Clinical Service Manager and Team Leader.
• Oversee assessment and treatment services for patients aged up to 18.
• Support transition of young people to adult services as needed.

Job description

As the CAMHS consultant you will provide leadership to a multidisciplinary team, alongside a Consultant Psychiatrist, Clinical Service Manager and a Team Leader. The clinical aspects of the post arise from an overall role to lead the team in the provision of effective assessment and treatment services for patients aged up to 18 years. The role includes a focus on supporting improvements in the process of transition to the adult mental health services as and when appropriate.

There is daily team huddle (handover and wellbeing online meeting), in addition to weekly MDT meetings and regular business and senior management team meetings. You will work within the Weymouth core CAMHS team and provide comprehensive community-based services to young people up to the age of 18 registered with general practitioners., As the CAMHS consultant you will work with colleagues in Weymouth & Portland and West Dorset core CAMHS to cover emergency work and to keep waiting lists within the Trust agreed limits.

The post attracts 10 days per year of study leave and an annual study leave budget of up to £1000.

You’ll join the weekly on-call rota which is Dorset wide and attracts at 3% on call availability supplement plus 0.75 APA per week. This is a joint general adult, learning disability, child psychiatry and older adult psychiatry on-call rota which is supported by specialist registrars and associate specialists.
