The appointee will, together with a consultant colleague, be responsible for providing a comprehensive, efficient, and high-quality clinical Immunology service at Salford Royal Hospital, part of the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust (NCA). Duties include all aspects of Allergy and Clinical Immunology.

An honorary contract with Manchester Foundation Trust (site of the Greater Manchester Immunology laboratory) can be arranged for limited involvement with the regional immunology laboratory.

Responsibilities include:
  1. Participate in and help develop allergy and immunology services, manage referrals, and triage cases.
  2. Maintain or help acquire accreditation for immunodeficiency and allergy services.
  3. Conduct weekly clinics for investigating and managing immunodeficiency and allergy in adults.
  4. Supervise and manage long-term treatment of patients with immune deficiencies and allergies.
  5. Participate in day-care activities, supervising immunoglobulin replacement therapy, allergen immunotherapy, and challenge/provocation testing.
  6. Advise on inpatient care in consultation with other specialists.
  7. Contribute to writing and updating clinical guidelines and protocols.
  8. Supervise and support the specialist nursing team.
  9. Participate in training nurses, immunology trainees, and medical students.
  10. Support continuous quality improvement initiatives, including achieving and maintaining QPIDS and IQAS accreditation.

The post holder is expected to maintain ongoing medical education, participate in CPD activities, clinical audits, governance, quality assurance schemes, proficiency testing, appraisal, and revalidation. Mandatory training must be completed. There is no out-of-hours work required, and colleague cross-cover for leave is expected.
