Job summary

Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Consultant in General Anaesthetics and Chronic Pain Management. The post covers a busy DGH hospital with a wide range of surgical services and a strong emphasis on chronic pain care delivered by a multidisciplinary team.

The successful candidate will provide high-quality anesthesia services, contribute to outpatient chronic pain management, and participate in teaching, audit, and service development within the anaesthesia department.

Qualifications

Inclusion on Specialist Register or eligible within 6 months of interview.
Full GMC registration is required.
FRCA or equivalent certification is essential.
Chronic Pain Management training or equivalent is desirable.
Evidence of CEPD and leadership training is expected.

Responsibilities

Provide general and obstetric anaesthetic services on call/out of hours.
Divide time between general anaesthesia and comprehensive outpatient chronic pain services.
Work with a multidisciplinary team (MDT) and supervise PAs/trainees.
Manage operating lists across ENT, cancer, breast, urology, orthopaedics, and other surgeries.
Engage in CEPD, audits, governance activities and service development.
