Job summary

County Durham & Darlington NHS Foundation Trust seeks a Consultant Anaesthetist with an interest in Chronic Pain to join Darlington Memorial Hospital. The post combines consultant-led intensive care and anaesthesia with a team-based approach across multiple subspecialties and acute surgical lists.

The role requires GMC registration, PHC certificates, and experience in acute care; on-call commitments include 1:12 ICU coverage and weekly theatre sessions.

Qualifications

• Full GMC registration and licence to practise.
• Specialist Registration with the GMC in Anaesthesia.
• Appointed within 6 months of CCT date or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Provide consultant-led intensive care and anaesthesia care for a mixed medical/surgical take.
• Undertake clinical sessions in anaesthesia across district general specialties including trauma and emergency surgery.
• On-call commitment for ICU coverage on a 1:12 rota; duty periods include 18:00–08:00 and 12-hour weekend sessions.

ALS, ATLS, APLS/EPLS or other complimentary qualification
