Job summary

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience at consultant or senior specialist level in Gastroenterology.

• GMC registration preferred — candidates eligible for GMC registration will be considered.
• Experience in endoscopy is desirable; JAG accreditation or eligibility is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of NICE guidance and evidence-based gastroenterology practice.

Responsibilities

• Provide consultant-level care for patients with acute and chronic gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary conditions.
• Deliver outpatient clinics and inpatient ward consultations.
• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy in line with JAG standards (where applicable).
• Participate in gastroenterology MDT meetings.
• Contribute to acute medical and gastroenterology on-call rotas as required.
• Work collaboratively with surgeons, radiology, pathology, nursing, and allied health professionals.
• Support service development, audit, quality improvement, and clinical governance initiatives.
• Supervise, mentor, and teach junior doctors and trainees.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Consultant Gastroenterologist to join a multidisciplinary medical team in the United Kingdom. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology services, contribute to endoscopy provision, and support service development, teaching, and clinical governance in line with UK best practice standards.
